Bread Bawks — Colorado organic sourdough and backyard eggs

How they're raised

Free-range, organically fed, genuinely happy

Our flock roams the yard all day on an organic feed, nothing else. It shows in the eggs, strong shells, deep yolks, and colors that range from pale blue to deep chocolate brown depending on the hen.

Fresh from the kitchen

One starter, kept alive for years

The starter is homemade and local to Colorado, fed daily. Every loaf is organic and mixed by hand, and every bag gets packaged by our kids, who like to make it look pretty.

Today's chicken wisdom

A hen that lays a colorful egg is showing off, and she's earned it.

Bread fact

Sourdough rises from wild yeast and bacteria already living in the flour, no added yeast needed.

Joke of the day

Why did the loaf go to the doctor? It was feeling crumby.

What neighbors say

"I'd like more of that big, beautiful bread."

- a neighbor down the road

"What lucky hens."

- a neighbor down the road

"This bread! The crumb, the flake, the sponge"

- a neighbor down the road

Reserve a pickup

We only make so much a day, up to 4 loaves, and a dozen eggs every couple of days. Everything is made to order, so we need three days' notice. Pick a day below and grab a slot before it's gone.
